A new Bulk Bag Dump Weigh Batch Station with integral mechanical conveyor collects dust created during manual dumping of bulk materials from bags, boxes, drums and other containers, and discharges bulk material by weight.

A high velocity vacuum fan draws airborne dust from the operator's atmosphere onto two cartridge filters. Automatic reverse-pulse filter cleaning maintains efficient, continuous operation by releasing short blasts of compressed plant air inside the cartridge filter on alternating cycles, causing dust build-up on the outer filter surfaces to fall into the hopper. Filters are readily accessed by removing the interior baffle, and replaced using quick-disconnect fittings.

The weigh hopper discharges into an integral flexible screw conveyor supported by a boom that cantilevers from the frame of the weigh batching system, the entire weight of which is supported on four load cells, allowing loss-of-weight batching. When an operator selects a batch weight and initiates a cycle, a controller runs the flexible screw conveyor, first at high feed rate, then at trickle feed rate, stopping material flow once the accurate batch weight has been discharged.

A mechanical hopper agitator improves the flow of material into the intake adapter of the flexible screw conveyor, which handles both free- and non-free-flowing materials that pack, cake or smear, with no separation of blended products.

The weigh batching system is constructed of stainless steel finished to Bulk standards, and is also available in mild steel with durable industrial coatings.

This automated Bulk Bag Batch Weighing System from Flexicon feeds ingredients to a central weigh hopper at mezzanine level using four flexible screw conveyors, and transports pre-weighed batches to a downstream blender using a pneumatic conveying system.

The BFC Series bulk bag dischargers feature a cantilevered I-beam with electric hoist and trolley to raise and position bulk bags without the use of a forklift. The units are equipped with FL0W-FLEXER bag activators* that raise and lower opposite bottom edges of the bag at timed intervals, loosening compacted materials and promoting material flow into the discharge spout. As the bag lightens, the stroke of the bag activators increases, raising the bottom of the bag into a steep "V" shape, promoting total evacuation of material from the bag with no manual intervention.

Each discharger is equipped with a surge hopper discharging into an enclosed Flexicon flexible screw conveyor. A weigh batching system controller starts and stops each conveyor to weigh ingredients in sequence, first at high feed rate for rapid filling, then at dribble feed rate, stopping material flow once the accurate batch weight has been discharged. weigh batching system software allows mid-batch bag changes and automatically compensates for material-in-flight by stopping the conveyor in advance of attaining final batch weights.

The batching controller then activates a rotary airlock valve to discharge the pre-weighed batch into a pneumatic conveyor line terminating at a Flexicon filter receiver positioned above a ribbon blender (not shown).
