Scrapbooking Ideas For Back to School Layouts
If your children have lots of photographs from the year at school, why not make a scrap booking layout for your child of his school year that he can look back on with fond memories for years to come.
The best school layouts that I have seen all have bright colors, in fact the brighter the better. It is also great if you can use a lot of photographs on the layout, and this gives the impression of a busy year at school.
First lay the pictures down on a table in front of you. Take note at what the predominant colors are. Then try to choose a patterned paper for the background of your layout to match in with the colors featured in the photographs. Maybe you could use the color of the school uniform, or even the background color of a classroom.
Next you will need to plan where your photographs will fit on the layout. Make a mini booklet on the layout if you have a lot of photographs to house. I made a mini concertina file. I did this by folding a strip of cardboard evenly in two places. You can then either fold it concertina style or stick the middle panel down and let the outer two panels over lap each other like a window. I used ribbon to keep the concertina file closed, by sticking it down at the back of the booklet and bringing it around to the front to tie in a bow in the front.
There are many ways in which you can decorate your scrapbooking page, and there are also many embellishments that you can buy. You can pick up cute mini pencils, mini note pads and lovely back to school stickers and punch outs.
To make your own embellishments for your school layout, you could try using any of the following techniques:
1. Using staples to staple bits of paper together in an artistic way;
2. Using colorful paper clips to clip tags to your layout;
3. Using star stickers, just like we used to get at school;
4. Hand write your journaling instead of using your computer;
5. Using stamps, like ones of school desks, apples, lunch boxes or any other school related topic. I used an apple stamp and then cut out some of the stamps to decorate the front of the mini concertina file;
6. Using plastic little letters of the alphabet embellishments.
The thing when doing a school layout is to keep it as colorful, fun and informal as you can. This is the one time that you don't need to be a perfectionist.
