Making A Photo Album To Last Through The Ages

A photo album is likened to a scrapbook or diary whereby it holds a slice of history related to the people and places within. Since many of us possess tons of photos lying about in shoes boxes, yellowing albums of yesteryears as well as computer hard disks, perhaps it is time for some elbow grease to put things in order. Whether they are pictures of graduations, weddings, holidays, anniversaries or just silly photos taken on a whim, each deserves its place in an album if it bears some significance.

If you have a penchant of writing, some short and sweet quips can be penned alongside the relevant photos. This creativity adds to the enjoyment of the album maker as well as audience. In the event you opted for a store-bought album, adding some trimmings on the inside and outside exudes an air of personalization. These include pressed flowers, mini mementos, ribbons or even lace work.

If a physical album is not your cup of tea, how about learning how to make a photo album in the digital sense? Similarly, you need to dig through files and folders in your hard disks, and come up with a selection of appropriate photos to match your objectives of creating an album. You can choose to present them in a digital photo organizer which resembles a conventional photo frame except that pictures automatically change within set intervals. Alternatively, register yourself onto a social networking site with photo publishing and sharing functionalities. By selecting a suitable photo album scheme, create a category and upload your photos. Start your collection of albums to share with family and friends. As a sign of respect to those with lower speed connections, it is best not to overload your web page with too many pictures. Internet etiquette in terms of pictures also dictates that picture resolution be kept to a reasonable level as high resolution images, though clear, take a much longer time to load.

Scrapbook – A Better Way to Preserve Memories

When asked which is the best way to preserve memories, there is no doubt that scrapbook is one of the most effective and enjoyable ways of keeping memories from being forgotten and fun to look at. In the past time, we were sentimental about a lot of things that faded from our memory no matter happiness or sadness in our life, for we couldn't keep all these memorable events in our minds. As time passed by, traditional scrapbook became a tool to keep memories from being forgotten.

Actually, scrapbook has also become high-tech nowadays, many professional digital scrapbooking software programs are listed on the net, these programs allow you to select photographs, arrange and place them onto different kinds of templates. Considering useful programs, when it comes to digital program, from here you can get more creative, add text, move pictures around, add color to your pictures in a way that traditional scrapbook would never allow for.

When refers to traditional scrapbook, you will need a space big enough for them to sprawl and to scatter the materials they will use for making the scrapbook for it requires a lot of materials, such as punchers, scissors, trimmers and rulers, stamps, pen and color pencils, glue, stickers. Guys – How To Make A Valentine’S Day Scrapbook Page For Your Girl: A Unique Gift She’Ll Cherish

Every Valentine’s Day, anniversary, and birthday you’re faced with the same dilemma: what to get your wife or girlfriend. Most of us have spent plenty of time agonizing over this one. You probably have yourself, or else you wouldn’t be reading this. You’d already have your flowers and box of chocolates all set. But maybe you’d like to do something more special.

Making a little record of your time together and your feelings for her in the form of a scrapbook (or even just a page or two) is a great way to show her how you feel. It’s a gift that she’ll cherish, knowing you put time and effort into it, and she’ll also be impressed that you tried something new (probably) just for her. If you have kids, they’ll also be thrilled to have this in later years to see how mom and dad used to be.

It doesn’t have to be beautiful. Hell, it doesn’t even have to be any good! The most important thing is to just do the best you can and put your heart into it. That’s what will matter in the end. You’re not trying to win a contest. What you’re aiming for is for her to be able to look at that book and see inside your head and get some idea of how you feel when you look at her.

If your girl scrapbooks, this is an easy exercise. Chances are, like most scrapbookers, she has tons of paper, supplies, embellishments (the stuff you glue on to decorate pages), rubber stamps, pens, adhesives, etc, etc. Poke around into the supplies a little bit and try to get some ideas. If you need more, the local craft store or scrapbook store should have whatever else you might need. Then, just wait for her to go out, or take all your supplies to the garage, and get started.

Scrapbooking is a simple thing that anyone can do. What it comes down to is taking a piece of paper and decorating it with pictures, mementos, artwork, cards, collages, whatever. Anything relatively flat is up for grabs here. You can also use rubber stamps, write or draw on the pages as well. You can sketch it out beforehand to plan it, or just make it up as you go along. There are plenty of scrapbooking sites online that can give you info on the basics as well as ideas for layouts.

I recommend a technique that my girlfriend uses, which is writing down memories or stories about the pictures on the pages. To get ideas, brainstorm a little. Get some of your favorite pictures of her or of the two of you. Write down a little about what you did that day, or how you remember feeling. How did she look? Smell? Just write as much as you can and then you can pick out the good stuff and rewrite it into something coherent, and hopefully, romantic.

Once you’ve decided what you want to write, you have a few options. One option is writing it directly onto the scrapbook page (first plan out where everything’s going to go, and then write before you put your pictures on the page –in case you screw up somehow). Or you might want to type it up, format it into a size and shape that will fit, and then print it out onto a nice piece of paper. Once you’ve done this, then you can cut it to fit (or tear it, or burn it around the edges), and maybe put another piece of paper of a different color under it, cut a bit larger so that it acts as a frame.

If your girlfriend does scrapbook, you might want to just do a couple of pages, then she can put them in an existing scrapbook, or use them to start a new one. But you can also just do an entire scrapbook. It doesn’t have to be long, depending on how you do it, even half a dozen pages could work.

If you want to do a complete scrapbook, you can either buy a book or create your own. To buy a book, go to the local craft or scrapbooking store and talk to the people there. They’re happy to help. Just let them know you’re doing a short scrapbook and looking for a book that would display it well. Most scrapbooks come in the large square size, but you can also get smaller ones.

If you’d like to make your own, that’s simple too. You can simply take two stiff pieces of paper for the covers, punch holes through all the pages, crease the covers near the edges so that they’ll fold open, and then fasten the pages together with rings, brads, whatever. You can also try poking holes in the “spine” and sewing the binding together using fishing line or upholstery thread. Experiment and see what works for you.

Once you’re done with your page or book, sign it and date it on the bottom or back.

There’s a lot of room for creativity and self-expression with a scrapbook project, and that’s what makes it such a special gift. It really shows how much you care, and it’s a gift she’ll always remember.

How to Create your Own Logo and Favicon

I believe webmasters want to have their own logo and favicon for their own websites or blogs. Logo and favicon can make their websites or blogs look different and unique. Here are my tips how to create your own logo and favicon.

Creating Logo

You can use your MS-Excel to create your own logo. Just click Insert | Picture | Clip Arts and choose the suitable picture. Right click the picture and activate Show Picture Toolbar. You can modify the picture by this tool. Or you can make your own picture using AutoShapes | Lines | Curve. Then click Insert | Picture | WordArt to add some words to your modified picture. Then click Select Objects arrow, range those pictures, right click, choose Grouping and Group. Now you have a new single picture.

Then open your Paint program. Copy - paste your new picture into Paint. Resetting or adding colour to make up your picture. Then save as BMP file. The last step is open your BMP file using Adobe Photoshop CS. Resize it to get a smaller size, then save as JPG file. Now you have your own new logo.

Another way to have a logo is by scanning an interesting picture from your books or photos. Then resetting it as I mentioned above.

Creating Favicon

Now you are ready to make Favicons. Favicons are the little icons that show next to bookmarks and in the address bar of most browsers. Favicons are 16 pixels square. Upload a 16 x 16 pixel PNG and click 'Faviconify!' to create a favicon for your website. This favicon maker supports alpha transparency.

Memory - Essential Function Of The Brain

The concept of Memory is in the present times the center of research and debate amongst the experts in Cognitive Sciences. This is most probably due to the fact that it is impossible to describe a cognitive, biologic or artefactual system of organization without understanding the true principles behind memory. Two major theories are currently opposing researchers in the domain of Neuroscience. Whereas one school of thought considers long-term memory to be a unified functional system, another school of thought believes that memory is a psychological system that should be broken down further into several specialized subsystems so as to understand it better.

But a fact which remains undeniable are that memory is an essential function of our brain. It is continuously solicited in almost every single activity we perform throughout our daily existence. Some of our daily activities require minimal memory input - for instance, remembering to add sugar to our coffee or remembering to take some prescribed medication. Other activities require heavier memory input, as for example, learning by heart telephone numbers that we would be using regularly. Hence, it is absolutely necessary that we preserve as well as perpetually develop our memory. All in all, we will need our memory for as long as we will live. In fact, our memory can even take us a long way - just think of winners of Who Wants to be a Millionaire! Who wouldn't want to be a millionaire, after all?

In most cases, a decrease in intellectual performance and memory are mere results of underutilization of the brain. In other words, if you are experiencing mild and temporary memory losses, if you have difficulties in recalling names or in remembering faces, if words don't come to you so easily, if you have no idea what you had for dinner last night, chances are that your memory is, under normal circumstances, not solicited enough! When used sparsely, the brain regresses.

The monotonous activities and routine occupations that we perform in our daily life mobilize the same cerebral regions. As a result, the other regions fall asleep. Of course, there are other factors which may be causing temporary poor memory and amnesia as well. Examples of such factors are excessive, accumulated stress and tiredness, lack of sleep, and deficiency in amino acids - symptoms of which, unfortunately, a majority of people present - severe depression or emotional shock.

Indeed, intellectual stimulation contributes to preserve capacities of reflection as well as memory. Very often, mental illnesses like amnesia and Alzheimer are associated with old age. In truth, they may not always be directly related to old age itself, but rather to the growing latency of the memory due to underutilization of the brain. It is hence important that you keep your neurons active all the time.

It is true that, since birth, we lose neurons that are not replaced, contrary to the other body cells. However, there is no need to panic. At birth, our grey matter is made up of billions of brain cells. Even if we lose 100 000 of them each day, we will still have enough of them to live autonomously for 120 years. Besides, our brain alters permanently. When some neurons die, others reconstitute themselves and replace the former.

Playing scrabble and crosswords, watching quiz shows on television and trying to play along, or engaging in any other type of intellectual game of logic or strategy, not only effectively keeps the brain cells alive and active but also helps improve their retentive capacity. Those who are retired or whose profession does not require constant intellectual input can also engage in creative activities such as writing songs or poems, or even painting; all of which effectively stimulate the right brain. Indeed, such intellectual activities effectively improve memory as well as develop memory capacity further.

However, more complex methods to activate the memory also exist. Researches in Neuropsychology have resulted in more scientifically accurate techniques to improve memory through stimulation of the brain. Some of these scientific techniques are stimulation of neurons, training to improve photographic memory, as well as memorization techniques. On an ending note, we would like to remind you that the more the brain works, the better it works. Gymnastics of neurons are as beneficial as gymnastics of the body. But of course, there is a big difference between working and overworking!
