Coming soon there is an event which lets you appreciate your favourite teacher. Teacher appreciation week begins on the first full week of May but can differ slightly in other countries. However, in America; May is when the event begins.
This is an important event which should be pencilled in the academic calendar. Why? Teaching is a career which requires understanding, patience and effort. It involves long hours and often work doesn’t stop in the classroom. Teachers have to mark and grade papers which also take up a lot of time. Students underestimate how much a teacher does and now is the time to recognise this. Make teacher appreciation week 2009 the time to say thank you and reward your teacher.
The question is, how do you celebrate your teacher? There are so many different to appreciate your teacher and every year students are coming up with new and creative ways to do this.
For example, the majority of students will want to buy their teacher a gift. However, gifts such as chocolates and flowers are now considered outdated and students are opting to take the more creative route. Students are making their presents and a popular idea is to make a scrapbook. This can be filled with memories, jokes and quotes compiled together by the whole class. Teachers often need a confidence boost and this would be a great way to do this. If this doesn’t grab your attention they why not make a personal gift such as a pencil holder or pencil case? Your teacher will appreciate the effort you have put in. Another popular idea for teacher appreciation is to get money from all students to buy theatre tickets or contribute towards something which the teacher enjoys. Students tend to give their present to their teacher on teacher appreciation day to make the day that little bit extra special.
As teacher appreciation is a worldwide event, students can look to other countries for inspiration into how to celebrate teacher appreciation day 2009. Students can see how countries differ in their celebrations and also compare teaching and work styles and techniques. A potential idea could be to use that teaching style during the week which could be a fun and different experience.
Our teachers do so much for us on a daily basis, now is the time to tell them how much they have meant to us.
